You inherited the model. Someone wants to know what drives the IRR by Thursday. Reading someone else’s model is most of the job, and nobody teaches it.
Ctrl+Shift+[ opens the Explorer: the formula as a tree, every reference labelled from the sheet itself — Revenue (2027), not D10. Arrow through it and Excel jumps with you.
Trace to inputs takes an output all the way back to the typed-in assumptions in one keypress, so “what’s driving this?” takes a keypress, not an afternoon.

The health check lists consistency breaks, numbers typed inside formulas, error cells, broken and unused names, hidden rows and formulas nothing depends on — each with the pattern it expected to see.
Export the list to a review sheet with a link to every cell and hand it to whoever built the model. The checks dashboard reads your own OK / CHECK table and tells you which one fails.

Every command has a key and every key can be changed. If another add-in already owns one, reassign it in Settings — the Ctrl+Alt combinations are rarely taken.
Works alongside Capital IQ, Macabacus, FactSet and Arixcel. Settings › Add-ins shows which of them are installed and which keys they hold.
Most analysts don’t get to choose their software; IT does. Frank is built so the answer to every question on IT’s form is “no”.
No telemetry, no update checks, no account, no server. The licence is a signed file you install once. You can put the laptop in flight mode and nothing changes.
No admin rights. The installer puts one file in your own profile and registers it with Excel the same way Excel's own Add-ins dialog does. Uninstall removes it cleanly.
The Explorer, audits, compare and navigation only read. Only formatting commands write to cells, and Frank Undo reverses each one.
Keys, colours and settings are plain-text files you can open in Notepad. A one-page security note for your IT team is available on request: ask for it.

That's SmartScreen, and it says that about any new program that hasn't yet been downloaded by many people. Frank isn't code-signed yet — a certificate is on the list for the first signed release. Click More info, then Run anyway. If you'd rather wait for the signed build, email us and we'll tell you when it's out.
Yes. If two add-ins want the same key, whichever registered last usually wins, so a Frank key that does nothing is almost always owned by one of them. Reassign it on the Shortcuts page in Settings.
Only the formatting commands write to cells — colour, number format, scaling, AutoColor — and Frank Undo reverses them. Everything else reads. Exporting an audit adds a "Frank review" sheet, which you can delete like any other.
The tools stop running. Your keys, colours and settings stay exactly as they were. Install a licence file from Settings › About and everything comes back.
Not yet. Frank is Windows Excel only — desktop Excel 2016 or later, including Microsoft 365. It doesn't run in Excel for the web.
Because that’s the job: to be frank about a model. Frank says what a model actually does, including the parts someone typed over.
